- Please don’t travel to Foundry Lane. The East Bristol site is closed until further notice
- Clifton is about 15 minutes away by car. Southmead is about 20.

- Black belts under 10x World Champion Roger Gracie, 800+ members across the city
Looking for Jiu-Jitsu in East Bristol?
You’ve probably landed here searching for a club near Easton,
Fishponds, St George or Kingswood. Our Speedwell site on Foundry Lane is closed for the foreseeable future,
and we don’t have a reopening date, so please don’t turn up there expecting a class.
The good news is you’re not far from the real thing. Two
full-time Roger Gracie clubs sit within twenty minutes of East Bristol, both running classes seven days a
week, and both will give you your first class free. Plenty of our members make that trip from your postcode
already.
How long it takes to get there
Both journey times are measured from Foundry Lane, Speedwell. If
you’re coming from Kingswood or Emersons Green, add a few minutes; from Easton or Redfield, take a few
off.

Common questions
Is there a Roger Gracie club open in East Bristol?
Not at the moment. The Speedwell site is closed for the foreseeable future and we haven’t set a reopening date. The nearest open clubs are Clifton, about 15 minutes away, and Southmead, about 20.
I’ve never done this before. Is that a problem?
No. Every “all levels” class is built to take complete beginners, and most people on the mat started exactly where you are. Tell the coach it’s your first session and they’ll pair you sensibly.
What does it cost to try?
Your first class is free at either club. Come along, see if you like it, decide afterwards. There’s nothing to pay and nothing to sign on the day.
What do I wear?
Shorts and a t-shirt is fine for your first class. We’ll lend you a gi if you’re trying a Gi session.
How old do kids need to be?
We run classes from age 3. Ages 3–6, 7–10 and 11–15 train separately, five weekday afternoons plus Saturday morning. All coaches are DBS checked and each club has a named safeguarding officer.
Is it worth travelling from East Bristol?
A lot of people already do. Clifton is a 15 minute drive or a 20 minute cycle from Speedwell, and both clubs run from early morning to late evening, so there is a class to suit whenever you can get there.
Will you open in East Bristol again?
We’d like to, but we won’t promise a date we can’t keep. Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll add you to the East Bristol list. You’ll hear before it goes public.
Your first class is free
Pick a time, turn up, we’ll do the rest. No kit needed, no commitment.
